Race for the Cure 2011

On the last Saturday in September, we walked/ran in the Race for the Cure in Wichita. Every year, our family participation goes up. This year, it was me, Makena, my mom, my brother Joey, his wife Pam, their kids Riley & Carter, my brother Mikey, my cousin Ann and her kids Jarrod & Hailey, my cousin Mark and his daughter Kalen, my mom's best friend Natalie, my mother in law and 2 of her sisters- Mary & Nancy, Nancy's husband Dave and their kids Denise, Betty and Breanna, and Mary's daughter Kary. Whew! What a list! It was wonderful to have so many people we knew, walking or running with us. We have lost track now of how many years we've actually done this race together but it's somewhere around 10. We all race in honor/memory of my Aunt Kathi. Thinking of her and missing her, the race never gets easier. It is a very emotional day for all of us. I had prayed to Aunt Kathi before the race to give me wings to complete the race faster than I ever have. And she delivered. Joey beat his time from last year as well. I hope this tradition continues for many, many years to come.

Here are a few pictures from that day, although between us all, we took TONS! You can see more in my September album on Facebook.
