Whew! What a Weekend!

In the past 3 days, we attended a baptism, 2 birthday parties, a rosary and a funeral... not to mention 3 basketball practices and 1 basketball game, and making quick stops at 2 friends' houses. Yowza! Talk about running the full gamut of emotions.

After both kids had basketball practices on Saturday morning, we drove to Wichita for Reed's baptism (on the way, stopping to see our friends, the Walker family- boy are their kids growing up fast!). Ryan and Stephanie asked me to be Reed's Godmother, and boy was I excited.  What an honor! Once mass and the baptism were over, we went over to my brother in law and sister in law's house for Reed's baptism party / Kara's family birthday party (her 6th birthday was last week). It was fun seeing Stephanie's side of the family again and enjoying everyone's company.

Sunday, after breakfast with Donna and Ryan & his oldest 2 kids, we went to see our friends, the Stepien's for just a little while (Sophia is such a cutie!). Then Eric and Makena dropped Landon & I at my parents' house, then the two of them headed back to Manhattan for Makena's basketball game that afternoon. Landon and I spent some time hanging out with my parents and seeing my brother Mikey briefly. Then we went to Kara's birthday party with her school friends. It was a gymnastics party at the YMCA. What a fun time- getting to meet her cute little friends, and watch them all have such a good time together! Once Eric & Makena returned (by the way, her team won their game, and she scored the final basket of the game!), we went to the rosary for Eric's Grandpa Depperschmidt. He passed away on Friday at the age of 91. It was a very emotional night for everyone. Two of Eric's cousins stood up to read a story and a couple of poems. They were excellently written, and so very true. He was an amazing man, and will be missed so much!

Today, we attended the funeral for Grandpa. It was again a very emotional few hours. He had a military burial, complete with the 21-gun salute and Taps being played. There wasn't a dry eye in the place.  Once the luncheon was over, we drove back to Manhattan. We got home just in time to do a few loads of laundry, have dinner and take Makena to her basketball practice. I'm exhausted and ready for bed! Pics are posted in the January FB album...
