Dallas Zoo

Saturday, we went to the Dallas Zoo. It is a very big, spread-out zoo... so there was lots of walking and it was extremely hot and humid, so the kids were kind of cranky and not as into everything as they normally would have been. We did manage some giggles and smiles along the way though.

After the zoo, Eric and I found a restaurant we hadn't seen in years, and we just HAD to try it out. We took the kids to Grandy's. Not as good as we'd remembered but was still nice to try an old favorite.

That afternoon, we relaxed and Makena and I hit the hotel pool for a bit. Dinner that night was at the Magic Time Machine Restaurant. I'd have to give it two big thumbs down. Not the best place we've ever tried. The food wasn't too good, our waiter was a bit on the obnoxious side.... just not the right place for us. In order to get out of there quickly, we had decided to just order room service for dessert.... only to find that our hotel doesn't serve desserts, only meals. So- we walked across our parking lot to a CVS to buy some ice cream and brownies to make our own dessert. Not the way we'd planned to end our vacation, but being together made it fun.

The drive back today was rather uneventful. And now we're settled back in and are ready for this week to start. Makena begins school Wednesday, so I'll be sure to post pics of her first day!
