Royals vs Red Sox

Yesterday at 2:30, Eric got a text from a friend in KC, saying he had 4 tickets to last night's 7:00 Royals game if we wanted them... Of course we said yes! We got the kids changed, things packed up, and got on the road by 3:15. We hit a little of the KC rush hour traffic but it wasn't too bad. We got to the stadium to pick up our tickets just before the gates opened. We got to walk around, see the Hall of Fame (which we'd never entered before), eat dinner, take the kids around the Little K, and still make it to our seats before the game started. Our seats once again were awesome! Just one section over from being directly behind home plate, and in the 6th row. We were in the shade the whole time, and there was a nice breeze most of the time. The kids behaved really well and stayed up for the whole thing. They loved being able to recognize the names of the guys as they got up to bat. Makena even asked a bunch of questions as to who made what play. They were very "into" the game! We stayed until the bitter end (The Royals lost 4-3), and left the parking lot around 10:45. Just as we were leaving downtown KC, a huge storm hit. We drove through gusts of up to 70 mph, very heavy rain, downed tree limbs, etc. It was very slow-going most of the way home. Luckily, the kids slept through most of it. After about Topeka, it was just sprinkling, so Eric could pick up speed and get us home! We got to our driveway about 1:45 am. What an exhausting 12 hours that was! Totally worth it though!
