Teeny Tiny Riley

Today, Riley looks even better than yesterday. The bruising and swelling of her right side look much less profound.

Pam's placenta was tested and was found to be the source of infection. It is still unknown if this caused the water to break too early but it thought to at least be the cause of the contractions. I also hadn't heard until today that Pam had fully dilated with all her contractions but with the positioning of the baby, it was still best to perform a c-section.

Last night, Riley had a heart sonogram and Pam and Joey were able to discuss the results with the cardiologist. It was determined that she has a very common condition called Patent Ductus Arteriosis (PDA). This duct is not fully closed as it would be in full-term babies, so she's being given medication to correct this.
This morning when we visited, Riley was under the jaundice light. Although it is hard to see her this way, there is noticed improvement each time Joey and Pam are able to visit her.  She will get a feeding tube today.

It will be hard to leave today, knowing I won't visit again until Saturday but she is in the best place she can be right now. Keep up with the prayers!!
